It's a platform game with RPG elements. If you like side-scroller games this is a very nice addition to your collection!. You play as the leader of a people who are strong, noble, powerful and wise. But unfortunately they have a tremendous weakness to people setting their ***stone*** temple on fire.Joking aside, the mixture of clunky platformer style combat combined with dragging and dropping various miscellanea seems a complete missmatch, and didn't do anything for me. There are ways this could have been executed by making the interaction with the miscellanea feel more dynamic and fluid. Perhaps by making it so that the dragging and dropping action was a gesture that merely beckoned the energies; letting them move on their own as if actually natural. As it stands, ineracting with nature magic felt like picking up a windows file and dropping it in the windows recycle bin. It takes something supposedly magical and makes it mundane.Even if the magic mechanics had been executed differently, combat would also have needed to have been done differently as well. There's nothing quite like combat based on slow horizontal jabbing of a spear, and having flappy birds bobbing up and down in the vertical direction to emphasize just how slow, clunky and limiting the combat is. There's something off-putting about the combat mechanics and a rigidity of the animations. Perhaps later powers are aquired that change the combat in some amazing way, but I'll never know because I was turned off by just how uninspired the game was with its bread and butter mechanics. There is of course the possibility that I've been spoiled by modern titles. That I'm being too harsh and the game is merely a product of its time. I leave that for the reader to decide. But summing up my own feelings; Aztaka is definitely an eyecatching title. It looked amazing when it was originally released and it still looks good to this day. Sadly its gorgious graphics, are entirely wasted on its clunkily executed mechanics.. 6/10While the game has many flaws, it's still quite fun!The biggest problems I've found with the game were mostly technical (setup doesn't work for me, crashes and graphic problems). Besides that, the game has some problems like badly defined hitboxes and some graphic flaws.Apart from that, while it's not an outstanding game, I definitely had fun with it. The game has some interesting mechanics for casting spells and using energy "dropped" by enemies.Skills are interesting even if there are only a few of them and there's enough exploration to keep the game going for a while.Could be a lot better, but still, worth playing.. i love this game. it plays like an early tomb raider but is far prettyer. Why do i even waste my time on crap like this.... Welcome to the bizarre world of Aztaka, where you will be challenged by such elements as:* Crappy 2D platformer* Plants* Terrible control scheme* Plants At least they didn't go full Downs Syndrome and go pixel. They hired an artist, so the game at least doesn't feel like you're being stabbed in the eyes. Shame about the uncompelling gameplay. If you really like 2D platformers, go find a decent one, this isn't it. Also make sure you run the config program before you launch the game. The game doesn't run properly with default settings on 99.999% of PCs. Is it hard to write responsive hardware detection config? No. Unless you're the developer of Aztaka, apparently. Buy this if you don't like the good 2D platformers and you like the developer to treat you like crap.. Interesting game, but trading and mechanics are weird.. Side scroller beat em up with some rpg elements. Not very much to do in the game, combat is just clicking the right mouse button, gets boring quickly. Not recommended.. I threw it on my "want" list some time ago, as I thought it to be a cool looking sidescroller... and then bought it on Steam Summer Sale, for about 4€To be honest, to me it's not even worth that.Sure, the settings look original, but the story, characters and dialogue are so dry it's really hard to get involved...Also; I was negatively surprised to find out thet ther's NO friggin' controller support on THIS SIDESCROLLING GAME... even worse; it uses mouse... did the devs of this ever played a good sidescroller?I mean, it's always great to try something new and all that, but this juist doesn't work. There is probably a story hidden in the tons of unoriginal dialoue, but it's way too boring and cliche for me to even give a single ♥♥♥♥.Seriously, this is one of the very few games I DO NOT RECOMMEND.Instead of wasting time and money on this, go buy DEADLIGHT, Limbo or Strider or something... Me personally, I don't have the nerve for this lame kind of game. If you like this type of game it's ok. I tried it and found it somewhat enjoyable. I didn't keep it because it wasn't the type of game I would consitantly play. I would recommend looking at it though if you're starting out or want a game to just relax and take a break away from your day. This game would be good for that and still give you a challenge.
